He was forced to work as a backstage artist in a commercial theater. He revealed this in the podcast of comedian Saurabh Pant.

According to Dilip Joshi, I started my career as a backstage artist on the commercial stage. Nobody used to roll me. I used to get Rs 50 per roll. But I was fond of theater at that time.
I didn’t care that I used to get backstage rolls. There will be big rolls in the future, but I wanted to stick to the theater. ”
Done stage shows for over a decade –
According to Dilip, it has been more than a decade when he acted on stage. He says, “I worked in Gujarati theater for 25 years. My last play was ‘Daya Bhai‘, which was completed in 2007.”

Dilip Joshi, “In 2008, I started shooting for 12 hours every day, including Sundays, for ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah‘. You need a different kind of discipline for theater.
You have weekends as well as weeks. There are days too. Shows. So it became difficult to manage theater and TV. I miss the theater very much. “
