Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away at the age of 74. Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam is no more. He died after fighting a long battle with Corona since last 5 August. Bala was known in Bollywood as the voice of Salman Khan.
SP Balasubrahmanyam, known as Bollywood’s well-known singer, has sung more than one song of Salman for almost a decade. He received the Filmfare Best Male Playback Singer Award for the song Dil Deewana of Maine Pyar Kiya.
At the same time, he sang the song Didi Tera Dewar Deewana sung with Lata Mangeshkar in the film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, even today the audience is very well remembered on the tongue. People not only listened to the songs they played, but also enjoyed the fun and enjoyment.
Just as Kishore Kumar was once considered the voice of Rajesh Khanna, similarly Bala earned a lot of fame in Bollywood by becoming Salman’s voice. Let’s know some facts of Bala’s life…
S. P. Balasubrahmanyam life –
- SP Balasubrahmanyam was born on 4 June 1946 in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. On December 15, 1966, he made his debut as a playback singer with the Telugu film Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna.
- SP got international recognition from the 1980 film Sankarabharanam. He received his first National Award for singing in this film.
- In 1969, Bala got a chance to record his first Tamil song Airakai Ennum Ilaya Kanni. Tamil superstar Gemini Ganesan was seen in this film.
After this, Bala got a chance to sing in South Star MGR’s film Iram Nilave Va in which Jayalalithaa also appeared in the lead role. But unfortunately Bala got typhoid before recording.
He was disappointed by this but MGR did not back down. He decided to give a chance to the SP and shoot until the SP was recovered from typhoid. After his recovery the song was recorded which was shot in Jaipur.
He has sung nearly 40,000 songs in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam in a 50-year singing career.
The SP sang 21 songs for Kannada composer Upendra Kumar in 12 hours. For this reason, his name is also recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. At one time the SPs recorded 16–17 songs a day in several languages. Many times he sang songs continuously for 17 hours.
SP Balasubrahmanyam first worked with AR Rahman in 1992 at Roja. Bala sang songs for all three versions of this film. The two then worked together for several films.
Apart from being a singer, Bala has also worked as a music director in more than 40 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi languages.
That’s why I left my singing career
Let me tell you all, that SP Balasubrahmanyam took a break from his singing career for a while when he became the voice of Salman on the silver screen in the 90s. Because, he wanted his ability to improve in acting as well.
He wanted to try his hand at acting career. He then acted in about 72 films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages.
For 15 years he braked his singing career
After a 15-year singing break, SP Balasubrahmanyam sang the title track of the Chennai Express as the singer in 2013, starring Shah Rukh Khan, the romance king and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone in the lead.
The title song of this Bollywood film was spoken by SP Balasubrahmanyam. Very few people know that he was awarded the Padma Bhushan Award in 2011. In the era of this terrible epidemic, many big Bollywood actors and actresses took goodbye from this world.
