Nebraska vs Wisconsin volleyball game: The Nebraska volleyball team’s match badgers program against Wisconsin this week has been heavily affected by the Corona global epidemic, which has led to its postponement.
Let me tell you though, that the volleyball match between Nebraska and Wisconsin was to be played on Friday and Saturday.
A spokesperson for Nebraska Athletics says Wisconsin needs to take precautions as a result of contact tracing due to COVID-19.
So this volleyball match was started on Thursday morning. Wisconsin rival last week, Michigan State has postponed its matches this week due to COVID-19 issues within its schedule.
Then seven hours later, Wisconsin announced that the Badgers would stop all team-related activities for at least 14 days due to the number of COVID-19 cases within the program.
At least four matches in Wisconsin will be postponed. “For the safety of our student-athletes, we are stopping all team activities,” Wisconsin coach Kelly Sheffield said in a news release.
Our athletes are taking all necessary precautions to keep the program safe. We look forward to resuming team activities when appropriate.
Wisconsin has been ranked as No. 1, earning the top spot in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll for the first time in program history.
The Badgers made five starts, including three All-Americans from the national runners-up team.
As you look at the Nebraska team, the Nebraska team has a 7–1 record this season, including a big win against No. 5 Minnesota in their last match.
“We are obviously disappointed that we won’t have to compete in Wisconsin this weekend, but our players understand that the health and safety of all is of paramount importance,” Nebraska coach John Cook said in a news release.
Nebraska has postponed four of its 12 matches. The match on 29–30 January against the North Western players was postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test for the North Western player, which began hours before the match.
Nebraska’s next matches are scheduled for March 5-6 in Illinois. Previously, Penn State and Michigan have each halted for COVID-19 reasons.
On Wednesday, Michigan postponed its weekend matches against Minnesota due to Coronavirus issues with the Michigan program.
The volleyball season for Big Ten schools began late in August through January due to COVID-19, and the NCAA tournament was also moved into the spring.
The entire National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament is scheduled to be played in Omaha on 13-14 April 2021.
