Derek Chauvin, the former US police officer who killed George Floyd, was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison

The biggest racial demonstrations ever took place in America, which was due to the murder of George Floyd and today George Floyd’s killer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 years in prison. According to the judge, this punishment is not based on sympathy and Judge Peter Cahill said these things after the prosecution demanded a 30-year sentence. The family members of George Flight were disappointed during this decision. They had demanded 30 years’ sentence but according to the court’s decision, 45-year-old Derek Chauvin can be out on parole after serving two-thirds of his sentence i.e. 15 years. During this decision, the family members of George Floyd started crying and they pleaded with the judge that the murderer should be sentenced to at least 40 years.

According to the report, the murder was unintentional from the former US officer and that officer was convicted of third degree murder and second degree murder. It is said that the American officer held George Floyd’s neck for 9:30 minutes, due to which he was unable to breathe.
